Our Caravan

2021 Crusader Excalibur Serenity

The hunt for a caravan where we would be comfortable living for over a year was the first thing we started to research for our lap around Australia. We watched endless videos of caravan tours from both YouTube channels and dealerships, gradually working out features we wanted and size we would be happy with. We knew we wanted, at least a semi off road van, 18ft – 21ft long, 2 batteries and 2 solar panels, an external shower, plenty of on-board water and it had to be fully sustainable for when we freecamp.

It was a few months until we started to narrow down the options and the brand that kept coming up was Crusader Caravans. They had a huge range of options available and we were able to add a few bits and pieces which we wanted. As soon as we went to the dealership we straight away knew that the Crusader Excalibur Serenity was the one for us.

We locked in the van in May 2020 with a delivery date of September but since we didn’t need it until December we changed the delivery (wish we hadn’t), then Melbourne lockdown happened and our delivery date was pushed out almost 3 months until mid February! Then literally the week we were due to pick it up, another snap 5 day lockdown, we couldn’t believe it! But thankfully it didn’t impact our delivery too much and we were able to pick up the caravan and start our trip a couple of weeks later!
